Mystery surrounds photo gone viral of naked man humping dead shark

But Pingalore’s source, a friend of the mystery man, decided to share more images after watching a newscast about the photo, which would help rule out McElwain as the man in question.

Orlando sports anchor David Pingalore says he was contacted by a person who shared more photos of the man in question, both with and without clothes.

And the hunt is on to identify the naked man seen smiling in a photo while straddling a dead shark on a boat that has gone viral.

A Florida sports reporter claims the man is actually a former New York City police officer.

"The naked man wanted to meet coach McElwain, then all of a sudden — an hour later — he flipped and got scared," Pingalore said.

"The man that is naked on the shark is afraid for his life because he believes bounty hunters — I’m not making this up — and people with shark people, whatever, those people would be called."

Another theory suggests University of Florida Gators football coach Jim McElwain is the man in the snap.

Pingalore revealed the man’s name — either Shawn or Sean — on Orlando Sentinel writer Mike Bianchi’s radio show, and is waiting for permission to reveal the rest of the pictures.

Surprisingly, Pingalore set up a meeting between the mystery man and McElwain, only to have the naked boater get nervous and cancel the get-together.

This is one cheeky snapshot.

“That photo was taken two years ago off the shores of Long Island." "This guy lives in upstate New York,” Pingalore told the New York Daily News.
