Trump attacks Conn. senator on Twitter over Comey firing

“When caught, he cried like a baby and begged for forgiveness,” Trump said, noting Blumenthal should be investigated.

Trump took to Twitter Wednesday morning to attack Blumenthal, who criticized the president’s firing of FBI Director James Comey.

U.S. His latest target :Sen. President Donald Trump is on the Twitter warpath. Richard Blumenthal.

He told a CNN anchor that Comey’s firing had started a “looming constitutional crisis.” Blumenthal appeared on MSNBC and CNN Wednesday morning.

In response, Trump tweeted, calling Blumenthal a “joke” and criticized the senator’s involvement in Vietnam, “except he was never there.”

The president has has previously attacked Blumenthal over statements that he served in Vietnam. According to The Associated Press, Blumenthal was in the Marine Corps Reserves, but did not fight in Vietnam.
