Good Samaritan shoots, kills man beating Florida cop as dozens watch on in horror (GRAPHIC VIDEO)

According to witnesses, Strother somehow managed to overpower Bardes before mounting him and repeatedly punching him in the middle of a road near Fort Myers.

Footage released Thursday shows Russell drop his weapon and calmly walk away from the scene.


Russell later told investigators that while Bardes was begging him to shoot Strother, he initially commanded the 53-year-old to get off of the policeman.

When Strother refused to move, Russell squeezed off three rounds, hitting his target in the neck and shoulder as dozens looked on. The incident was filmed from multiple angles.

Russell, who had a license to carry a handgun, wasn’t charged after the shooting was determined to be justified.
