The Fox and Friends crew then pushed Trump for his thoughts on host Jimmy Kimmel’s performance at Sunday night’s Oscars.

Trump added: “That doesn’t mean I’m not going (to attend the correspondents’ dinner) next year.”

Trump’s back-and-forth feud with the media escalated two weeks ago when he took aim at CNN during a press event to reveal his new labour secretary. The New York Times also has been the subject of a litany of negative recent tweets from the president.

Trump also was asked to explain his decision to skip April’s White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner after tweeting last week he won’t be attending the event.

During the roughly 10-minute Fox and Friends segment, Trump provided highlights of the looming address – which will cover military spending, healthcare, the economy and his push to curb illegal immigration.

The president also referred back to 2011, when then-president Barack Obama spent a portion of his dinner speech roasting Trump.
